One of our clients – a Hong Kong based financial sector company who also operates in the UK – needed a team to develop an innovative and secure web-based portfolio management system for delivery to the international market. They needed a way to gain access to innovative and adaptable resource that could carry out a significant amount of software development in a short timeframe. We provided this capability. The relationship was so successful that not only were the security and scalability criteria met – and subsequent sales of the product successful – our client has engaged Black Coffee to develop a suite of applications for sharebrokers to keep track of their clients and their clients’ portfolios and a set of tools to review performance and to look at opportunities for the future.
 

THAT NEW ZEALAND BASED RESOURCE CAN BE LEVERAGED to speed up delivery is illustrated by the development of the server components of a state-of-the-art Knowledge Management System. Black Coffee developed the server components of the system for a Cambridge-based company. The relationship was so successful that not only were the timelines met in a very cost-competitive manner, our client won the “Best Use of Outsourcing by an SME” category at the prestigious UK National Outsourcing Association’s annual awards in 2005.

Our client had very aggressive deadlines to meet a deliverable requirement to the Japanese market. By utilising a Black Coffee team in New Zealand and a local team developing the GUI components in the UK, two day’s work was able to be achieved in each 24-hour period. Software changes were turned around during the UK night with software releases made available the following morning.

Cost was able to be kept to a minimum by engaging only New Zealand-based staff. This was possible because of the superior communication that established between the two project teams. In a typical case, a Black Coffee analyst would be part of the project team on the ground in the United Kingdom to facilitate after-hours communication to New Zealand.
